Born in Templeton, California, February 23, 1926, child of Fred and Margaret Bassi. Graduated from San Luis Obispo High School in 1943 and San Jose State in 1947. Attended the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Taught physical education for seven years in Ventura Unified School district before coming to Lodi in 1954 where she substituted in the Lodi and Stockton schools. Bernice had her own business, Senior Request Services in recent years and she also worked for the law firm of Chasuk and Chasuk in Mountain View.
Member of St. Annes Parents Club, St. Annes Church and Omega Nu.
She is survived by three children, Anne Everett Jones of Stockton; Michael Everett of Des Moines, Iowa; and Joanne Everett Bisbocci of McMinnville, Oregon; and ten grandchildren, Christine Casey Jones of Foresta, Kyle Jones of Riverside, Amanda Jones of San Diego; Matthew Everett of Anacortes, Washington, Elizabeth Everett of Kaneohe, Hawaii, Alex Everett of Des Moines, Iowa; Cesare, Sofia, and Serena Bisbocci of McMinnville, Oregon; and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister, Dolores Chasuk of Mountain View, California; her sister-in-law, Janet Bassi of San Luis Obispo, California; nephews Tom Chasuk of Mountain View, Dr. Robert Chasuk of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; nieces Annette Chasuk of Mountain View, Suzanne Chasuk of San Luis Obispo, Patricia Boaz of La Jolla, Margaret Austin of Mountain View, Jeanette Twa of Burlington, AL; Janine Quaglino of San Luis Obispo, Jill Gentilly of Atascadero, and Jennifer Ginder of San Luis Obispo. She was preceded in death by one brother, James Bassi of San Luis Obispo, her nephew John Chasuk of Napa, and grandson Andrew Everett of Des Moines, Iowa.
A memorial service at St. Annes Church will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday July 25, 2018. There will be no visitation. Private graveside services will be held in San Luis Obispo.
kimberly Ripley
Kimberly Louise Ripley passed away July 8th, 2018. Just days after her 54th birthday.
Kim was born July 5th, 1964 in Oakland California, to Zack and Janeen Barbee.
She spent her childhood traveling with her family as a military child. Her favorite place being Japan. Right before starting high school the family settled in Lodi, Ca where Kim went to high school, graduating from Tokay High School with the class of 1982.
In 1985 Kim moved to Santa Maria, Ca to be with her parents and sister Shannon Sendejas and to raise her daughter Megan Jenkins. She lived there until she moved back to Lodi in 2003 to be with the love of her life Sam.
Kim was a people person. She made friends everywhere she went. Whether it was at work or the grocery store. She worked various customer service jobs, and accounts payable positions but her favorite was managing BooksWest in Santa Maria because it combined her love of people and of books.
Kim is preceded in death by her father Zack Barbee in 2006. She is survived by her loving husband Sam Ripley. Mother, Janeen Barbee of Lodi Ca. Sister Shannon (James) Sendejas, of Santa Maria, Ca. She loved her family with all her heart: Vacations with her husband, shopping with her mom, talking to her daughter, spending time with her nieces and nephews and loved watching her granddaughter’s sports. She will be greatly missed by many.
JoAnne McLane Rantz
JoAnne McLane Rantz passed away July 10, 2018 at the of age 82. She was born and raised in Lodi, CA. She attended Occidental College where she studied Industrial Psychology and met her first husband, Marshall Lewis Jr, with whom she had two sons. JoAnne enjoyed several years living abroad and then returned to Lodi where she became Editor of the American Journal of Enology and Viticulture, a position she went on to hold for 25 years. During that time, she married her second husband, Tony Rantz, with whom she would spend the remaining 34 years of her life.
JoAnne was an avid bridge player, a member of the Lockeford Chamber of Commerce, and the first female President of the Lodi Rotary Club. She loved entertaining and spending time with family and friends, as well as indulging in the occasional Scotch whiskey (preferably a finely aged single malt). She is survived by her husband Tony Rantz, sons Keith and Evan Lewis, sister Judy Harmon and brother in law Mike Harmon, nieces Jill Thomas-Woodhouse and Jane Thomas-Huffman, stepchildren Carolynn Symes, Michael Rantz and David Rantz, and her faithful four legged companion Alex.
A celebration of JoAnne’s spirited life will be held on July 21, 2018 from 1-4 p.m. at the Woodbridge Golf and Country Club located at 800 Woodbridge Rd. E in Woodbridge, CA. She will be lovingly remembered.
Salomon “Sal” Le Chuga
Salomon “Sal” Le Chuga was born August 1, 1929 to Frank and Alberta Le Chuga in Tormey, California. He passed away peacefully at home in Lodi on July 6, 2018 at the age of 88. Sal is survived by his wife Shirley, son; Rick, grandson; Jonathan Joel and granddaughter; Ashley Nicole. He was preceded in death by parents Frank and Alberta.
Friends may visit Tuesday, July 17th from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Donahue Funeral Home, 123 N. School Street, downtown Lodi
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 18th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joachim Catholic Church, 13392 Lockeford Ranch Road, Lockford, CA. Rev. Fr. Sam Woods will officiate. Interment will be at Cherokee Memorial Park, Hwy 99 and Harney Lane at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18th.
Janice Adams
Janice Lorraine Adams was born December 9,1942 in England, she passed away July 7, 2018 in Stockton, Ca. she was 75. Janice moved to the United States from England in 1968, settling in San Joaquin County in 1974 where she worked as a teacher for over 30 years. Janice enjoyed crafting, travel to the ocean and mountains, and spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; Edward and Violet Fitzsimmons. She is survived by her husband; Jeffrey Adams, Daughter; Zita Tutor, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and her sister; Mandy Bardwell. Friends may visit Wednesday and Thursday from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Friday, July 13th at 1:00 p.m. at Donahue Funeral Home, 123 N. School Street, downtown Lodi.
